The big Made by Google launch event takes place next week and the firm’s latest teaser video gives us the best look at the new devices as well as announcing the line-up of celebrity guests (one of whom could unveil a surprise).
We know the event is for the Pixel 11 range of phones, as Google has confirmed this many times. However, the new teaser video shows the hero colourway, thought to be called Dune, more than previously.
Until now, the official teasers have shown a gold frame and camera bar edge while keeping the rest of the phone blacked out. Now, we can see a much better glimpse of the bright orange style, which should be limited to the Pixel 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL but there will be plenty of new colourways across the range.
The best look is below with other shots, including one showing the new HiLight notification light (previously known as Pixel Glow) in blue, which should be for interacting with Gemini.
The video also shows the Pixel Watch 5 for the first time. The brief glimpse doesn’t give much away but confirms the smartwatch will be launched at the event as expected.
If you’re thinking it looks just like the Pixel Watch 4, you’d be right. The new model is set to get the exact same design with minor hardware upgrades and new colours.
The teaser also reveals the set of celebrities Google has lined up as guests for the launch. For starters, the event will be hosted by South African comedian and writer Trevor Noah.
Also on the bill are Alex Cooper, Shubman Gill, Ayami Nakajo and Stephen Curry. Other names listed include Pinkpatheress, Peggy Gou, Juju Watkins, Steven Gerrard and Daniel Durant.
It’s quite the list and a little confusing in places, so we’ll have to tune in to see what will happen.
The one we’re most interested in is Steph Curry, the NBA star who is Google’s Performance Advisor. He helped launch the Fitbit Air earlier this year and his appearance could herald something exciting.
While there’s a distinct lack of rumours and leaks for a new Fitbit, the Sense 2 and Charge 6 are well overdue a refresh and maybe Google has managed to keep something completely secret (for a change). Curry may introduce a new Fitbit with a screen or even the Fitbit smart ring I’ve been requesting.
It may just be for an update on how well the Fitbit Air is selling or similar, but we can hope. Here’s the full teaser video, ahead of the 12 August event in New York.
